NPL Teddington 3 v Amersham CC Saturday 3rd X1 on Sat 21 Jun 2008 at 13:30
Amersham CC Lost by 32 runs
Although resulting in a 32 run defeat this proved to be a very spirited performance from an Amersham team combining youth and experience. We restricted NPL to 169 for 6 after 52 overs as a result of very tidy spells by Charlie Holloway, Matt McKay and Stuart Rogers. The balance of the overs were completed by Rohan Banerjee who took a wicket with his first ball in senior cricket, Will Gray and Jack Rogers.
Amersham needed a good start from the experienced openers of Thomas and Mackintosh but the former fell to a very soft delivery and the latter to an unplayable seamer which came back at least 18 inches according to umpire Holloway. However Matt McKay batted very well for his 28 and was ably assisted by Robert Lloyd, also playing his first senior game, who scored 40 runs using a good eye and strong right hand swing. We eventually were bowled out with 6 overs remaining and 32 runs short - commendable performance in the circumstances.
