Amersham CC Saturday 3rd X1 v Hillingdon Manor 3 on Sat 12 Jul 2008 at 13:30
Amersham CC Won by 3 wickets
After the deluge of rain this week Hillingdon surprisingly opted to bat on winning the toss. All of Amersham's six bowlers bowled tightly and contained Hillingdon to 160 for 4 in a rain shortened innings of 50 overs. Although four catches were dropped, the highlight was a world-class one-handed catch low to his left hand by season debutant Niall Densley.
The target always looked to be challenging and even more so when Hugh Coles was bowled in the 3rd over. Alex Martin (21) punished any loose bowling until falling LBW, to be shortly followed by Harry, also LBW. Niall then anchored the innings with a fine 48 and was ably supported by David McKay (15), Stuart Rogers with a very good 41 and Paul McKay with 18no. The total was reached with nearly five overs to spare and 3 wickets in hand.
Overall a very satisfying win and a good all-round team performance.
