Chesham 2 v Amersham CC Saturday 2nd X1 on Sat 26 Apr 2008 at 13:30
Amersham CC Lost 5 Wkts
Having won the toss Amersham 2nd skipper Pete Jupp elected to bat in a 40 over contest. Amersham got off to a great start with new signing David Butler opening his account with a first ball 4 follwed by a perfect straight drive over the infield for 6. Butler bludgened the first over for 20 and Amersham looked like creating a large total in the 40 overs. Steve Emsley laid a solid foundtation with Butler until he was bowled for 14 by Emery who then bowled Jupp though the gate for 2. Amersham were now 53 for 2 and up against it, with Emery and Helm bowling a tight line to the new batsman. Butler continued to be explosive with his hitting and moved to 54 before being caught for 54. Amersham then collapsed to 94 all out which was disappointing considering the great start Butler provided.
Having to protect a fairly small total Amersham got stuck in and Rajabali as ever bowled tight and bowled a peach of a ball to Turner clean bowling him for 1. Amersham were very impressive in the field considering they were down to 10 and Emsley (Mr Cricket) almost got his first wicket for the club with his first ball - his first wicket was not too long in the making however when Saunders was caught by David Mckay for 18. Amersham had Chesham slightly on the back foot and were still in with a shout until Bibley and Usman came to the crease and steered Chesham to victory with 8 overs to spare. Not the ideal start to the season but some very notable perfomances from Emsley, Butler and Rajabali - who finished with figures of 3 for 40 off 16 overs.
