Amersham II won their third straight game in a high scoring match on a fine summer's day at Maidenhead & Bray.
Stand-in captain Ian Rogers won the toss, and batted on a pitch packed full of runs. But after 16 overs, despite Danny Bulman's breezy 33, Amersham were wobbling on 67-3. But that brought Jack Kilgannon (114) and Rogers (53) together, who shared an incredible partnership of 165 in just 21 overs. Kilgannon was especially relentless, striking 21 fours and a six. Amin (3-58) stemmed the runs to a certain extent, but late order cameos from Evan Hamilton-Pike (26) and Ben Langley (15*) allowed Amersham to declare on 289-7 after 46 overs.
In reply both Cheema (32) and Wilding (34) played positively for Maidenhead, but thanks to Bulman's early strikes, they were reduced to 94-4. However it was then Maidenhead's turn for a middle-order partnership as Clements (62) and Quershi (85) added 143 for the 5th wicket. Three chances of varying difficulty were spilled, and with 10 overs to go Maidenhead were in control needing just 57 runs to win. But when Bulman was brought back he removed Clements, then in an astonishing turn-around, Bulman and Tim Aylott (2-35) both took two wickets in two balls, all four of them clean bowled. Bulman then forced a nick into Langley's gloves, to claim terrific figures of 7-88 and clinch the win by 37 runs with 3.3 overs to spare. Maidenhead's last 6 wickets fell for just 15 runs, as the stumps were finally drawn at 8:40pm, and absent skipper Paul Weston's text message to his team was: "Effing well done guys".
