AMERSHAM CC Won by 10 runs

Match report Datchet came to Shardeloes on Saturday with high hopes of stopping the juggernaut that has become the Amersham 1st XI - 6 wins from the last 6 matches. They won the toss, inserted the home side and bowled well, very well but a determined 41 from Bruce Friderichs steadied the ship. Captain Marvel Andy Viney continued his rich vein of form scoring a gritty 58 but in trouble at 110 for 7 Haseeb Ali once again showed that he is no mug with the bat and put on 50 runs with his captain in what was probably the match winning stand. Amersham reached a disappointing but possibly defendable 175 all out.

And defendable it was with Alex Lines steaming in first from the pavilion end, then from the cornfield , back to the pavilion end and finally finishing off the Datchet innings with a quite remarkable 9 for 54 with the ripening wheat at his back. Datchet came very close but for the brilliance of Alex Lines as they failed by just 10 runs.

7 from 7 now, 2 points off second, and a visit to leaders Oxford next week. It's all getting quite exciting at Shardeloes!
