Amersham CC Won 8 Wkts
Amersham maintained their lead at the top of Div 2B with a comprehensive win against Wokingham 2nd XI.
Amersham won the toss and elected to bowl first. Tom Dixon was soon into his stride as he got the Wokingham opener to play a loose shot and Rob Viney gratefully took the catch at first slip to make it 7 - 1.
Cox and Deen then looked solid against some tight bowling from Ward and Dixon as Amersham kept the pressure on. It took two stunning catches from Niall Densley to change the game. The first one came off the bowling of Dixon. Cox looked to hit over the top of cover and Densley leapt up and took a one handed catch above his head.
Nick Moore had replaced Ward and in the next over Deen smashed a ball to square leg to see Densley cling on to the ball 6 inches off the ground to his right. Wokingham were now 34 - 3 and looked deflated.
Amersham then tightened their grip on the game and took 3 more quick wickets to leave Wokingham struggling at 43 - 6. Tom Dixon ended his 10 over spell with 4 - 28.
Wokingham's lower order had a bit of a fightback as they looked to hit Moore and Matt Ash out of the attack. Moore ended up with 2 more wickets and Matt Ash 1 as Amersham bowled out Wokingham for 110 in 30 overs.
Once again the openers Rob Viney and Andy Robertson took the game to the Wokingham bowlers and put on 80 in 13 overs before Viney was bowled for 43. Robertson and Chris Owen kept up the tempo and almost saw Amersham home woth Robertson falling for 30 with only 3 runs required. Dan Colquhoun came in and promptly smashed his second ball to the cover boundary to secure a win for Amersham.
