Amersham CC U14 v Gt Kingshill U14 on Sun 04 May 2008 at 10:00
Amersham CC Won 13 runs
An excellent team performance saw Amersham U14 win their first league match of the season. Things didn't start well with the early loss of our two openers Dale & Baldwin to an accurate opening spell for Gt Kingshill, but the ship was soon steadied by the Breckenridge boys. When Joe fell to a straight one, this brought Max Summerfield to the crease who struck a succession of lusty blows to move along the slightly slow run rate and rode his luck a little for Amersham to post a respectable score.
Kingshill's response started well enough, but Amersham's fielding was of a far higher standard than the opposition and despite a well constructed 54 from Kinsghill opener Young, Amersham strangled the run rate with all of Amersham's bowlers being miserly with their run rates. Needing 32 from the last 3 overs, Amersham kept their nerve with Summerfield left to bowl the last over for just 4 runs.
A great team effort and hopefully a sign of good things to come for the season as a wole.
