Amersham Hill v Amersham CC U15 on Sun 01 Jun 2008 at 10:00
Amersham CC Won by 145 runs
I'm not sure whether it was the percieved oppportunity to score lots of runs or the coach's efficiency but 13 players turned up to play against Amersham Hill! After a difficult conversation with Tom Watts (sorry Tom) and a bit of negotiating with the Amersham Hill coach, we agreed to play 12-a-side.
Batting first, Hugh Coles and James Wood got us off to a flyer before 'Woody' smashed one in to the chest of extra cover who then somehow managed to smother the ball and hold on to the catch. After a brief interlude from Peter H and Hadleigh C who having hit his first ball for four and the second for six onto the railway track made the mistake of trying to play a forward defensive and got bowled, Amersham Hill didn't quite know what hit them as Will Gray set about their bowling and scored a very beligerent 71* as the U15's posted a commanding 181/4 from their 20 overs.
The Amersham Hill batsmen all seemed a bit shell-shocked and never got going against some fine bowling and the wickets were shared around as they struggled to 36/8 in their 20 overs. The abiding memory for the coach was the site of four slips and a gully to James D-C!
Onwards and upwards to tougher opposition next week as we take on Chesham A at Shardeloes.
