Amersham CC Won 94 Runs
Amersham inflicted a heavy defeat on their opponents in an extremely professional display. There were no batting failures in Amersham's innings, which consistently exceeded 6 runs per over, bar a couple when CSG introduced their spinners and we had to get used to the change of pace. As will be seen from the batting scores, three batsmen were retired, having achieved 30 or more runs.
In reply, CSG were restricted to two per over until the 14th, by which time they were 6 down and the game was effectively over.
Thanks must go to Simon Varrall for bringing Callum to the game at such short notice, for him to take three wickets in an opening spell with Tom Turnbull who bowled with hostility & accuracy.
Again in an excellent bowling performance, the wickets were shared around and the fielding was generally excellent, blemished very slightly by some overthrows from rather exuberent run out attempts!
There can be no man of the match award as nobody could stand out in a near perfect display, but my champagne moment award goes to skipper Alastair Grant for his stunning bottom edge catch to dismiss their No.5
It was very gratifying to watch the next generation of senior players for the Club and judging by what I saw, most of this team will be invited to play senior cricket before too long.
