Match report Won the toss and put Ruislip in on the greenest of spongy greens with conditions fitting of a winter rugby test match from Dunedin. After a 15 minute delay, Buchanan started the innings with a dot ball but the second one was handsomely smashed over the sight screen for 6 by Javed. 3 overs later, we were back in the hut with a further rain delay that ultimately saw the match reduced to 80 overs.

Upon return, Buchanan recovered from his early indignity and quickly went through the top order reducing them to 5-30 after 10 overs. At the other end, Haines bowled miserly ending with figures 2-4 off 9. Atkinson and Crossley chipped in with a couple of wickets and Ruislip were all out for 80.

After a quick turn around, that required a negotiation on whether tea was required, Amersham quickly set about their task but were reduced to 23-3. Time was of the essence but Tilbury and Colquhoun steadied the ship with sensible batting and brought the game into a position where it would be hard to lose. Three further quick wickets however left for a nervy finish where runs seemed hard to find but Haines and Crossley negotiated the last 10 runs wisely.

A well negotiated victory and 25 points in the bank.

Champagne moment.....to be discussed but: Buchanan's 5 wickets (whilst getting smashed for 3 sixes); Colquhoun's steady 32 (the demons must've been close by) and fantastic left handed catch; and the bird having a bath on the covers must all be strong contenders.
