Chesham U14 v Amersham CC U14 on Thu 10 Jul 2008 at 18:00
Amersham CC Lost By 3 runs
We turned up at Chesham knowing they were a good team, boasting 3 county players, but we knew we definitely had a chance, and we came very, very close.
Jack Baldwin bowled very well picking up 2 crucial early wickets to put Chesham on the back foot. This was followed up by a great spin partership of Joe Breckenridge and Alex Dale, sharing 5 wickets in total, and Joe taking a crucial wicket of the Chesham opener Jamie Gardiner just 3 runs shy of his fifty.
The batting started well with Ali Grant looking very handy until his was unfortunately run out. Jack Baldwin led up his great bowling performance with a fine 19 runs before getting bowled by a corker. This led to a slight collapse before Sam Norris and skipper Tom Ayling took to the crease and put on a brilliant 69 partnership for the 6th wicket(Norris 29* and Ayling 32) before Tom AYling was controversially give run out in the final over. Needing 4 to win off the last ball, we could manage only the one, but a great season in the Bucks League, and we definitely gave a very good team a run for their money.
