Match report Madhuka, Payne and Lines all impressed with the ball after Amersham won the toss and elected to field. At the 33 over mark Cumnor were 103-6 and it looked like the innings would come to a premature end. However, Dale (43) and Beer (22) kept the score ticking over. They played watchfully and took singles when the chance presented itself. Just 8 boundaries were struck in the innings but good running and shot placement from the lower order meant Cumnor were able to put 176 on the board after 50 overs on the damp wicket.

Amersham went about their chase in a slightly different fashion and it proved to be the wrong plan in the end. 21 boundaries were struck, but the amount of cleanly hit balls at fielders will leave the side from Shardeloes frustrated with the day. Roberts and Davies bowled well and put Cumnor in the driving seat early. Amersham reached 100-6 in the 33rd over and the match seemed even until the reintroduction of Roberts and Davies saw the score slip to 118-8. A spirited fight back from H Parmar and Rogers saw the required runs and rate fall, but in the end it wasn't enough as both fell within 2 overs of each other leaving Cumnor the victors by 24 runs.

Hindsight is a powerful tool, and in truth a different batting approach would have likely seen Amersham win this match. Sliping to 91-6 from 30, seeing the 3 main bowlers bowled out by the 35 over mark and 5 of the top 6 batsman caught in the ring suggests that we played right in to Cumnor's hands.

Next week is the Met Line Derby and hopefully will see an improved display.
