Andy Robertson (125) and Rob Viney (113) set a club batting record on saturday against Wokingham 2nd XI by putting on 258 for the first wicket.

Amersham won the toss and elected to bat first. Andy Robertson got the innings off to a flyer scoring 12 off the second over of the day. Both Robertson and Rob Viney were in dominate mood scoring freely and keeping the scoreboard ticking over at a good rate. Their hundred partnership came up in the 21st over. Rob Viney won the individual race to be the first to fifty as both batsmen worked the good balls around the ground for 1's and 2's and were very severe on anything off line as they rattled off 23 4's and 5 6's between them.

The 200 partnership came in the 39th over and was quickly followed by both openers getting to 3 figures. Again Rob Viney just beat Andy Robertson to 100. The next 50 partnership came in six overs as both started to really attack the bowling. Eventually Rob Viney holed out to Long off and Andy Robertson to mid wicket. Chris Owen and Dan Colquhuon then added a quick 30 to set Wokingham 289 to win off 51 overs.

Wokingham's reply got off to a bad start with Duncan Ward taking a wicket in his 3rd over to make it 9 - 1. Both Nick Moore and Ward bowled tight lines to make scoring difficult and Moore was rewarded for his good bowling having Cox lbw. Deen and David batted carefully and got the score to 109 before David became Moore's second victim. Moore took his 3rd wicket two balls later to leave Wokingham 109 - 4. Amerhsam then succeeded in dropping a number of chances and it looked like Amersham had blown their chances of winning. With 12 overs to go Amersham took the new ball and were rewarded with 4 more wickets but ran out of overs to take the last 2 wickets required for victory. Nick Moore finished with 4 - 52 and Duncan Ward 4 - 32.
