Match report After last weeks excellent start to the league season with maximum points against local rivals Chesham a confident captain won the toss and elected to bat first. After the early loss of Alex Tilbury veterans Heslop and Piper set about stabilising the innings on a typically slow Barn Meadow wicket. Piper’s dismissal at 73 for 2 led to a mid order collapse as Amersham lost two further wickets without adding to the score! Harry fell shortly afterwards after an important knock of 44 building on his run feast of last year. Alex Matthews also fell cheaply and it was left to Jonathon Fowler and the skipper for the day to add impetus and achieve a respectable total of 228 for 7 from 50 overs. The mainstay of the innings was without question Jonathon’s excellently paced 79 not out.
So after a good tea back at Shardeloes a confident 3rd X1 took to the field and set about the task of bowling out the visitors. Openers Colin Matthews and Sidey proved equal to the task and proceeded to dismiss the opposition at regular intervals, and with the panther like Inzi patrolling the covers Amersham were soon well on top. 4 wickets each for Colin and Sidey (despite a couple of drops from Teflon Piper in the slips) and with young Ashley Turney picking up the final couple of wickets, Hillingdon were dismissed for just 78 in 24.5 overs!
So another 25 point win leaves us with maximum points after the first two games and a solid platform to build on for the rest of the season.
