Match report A surprisingly dry day saw Amersham continue their unbeaten campaign against Uxbridge. Uxbridge won the toss and elected to bat on a green and dry wicket. New Australian Ben Matthews (79) opened the batting with Andy Viney (55) and made light work of the seeing off the new ball. Ben with some good stroke work and timing batted well on an unfamiliar English wicket whilst Andy started cautiously before taking the fight to the opposition with some hard hitting! Luke Jackson was on his way to the crease after Andy swung and missed one. Luke Jackson (0) lasted less than an over after ‘missing a straight one’. Dan Colquhoun (0) didn’t last much longer as he also ‘missed a straight one’. Brother Alex Matthew (2) didn’t manage to get to grip with the wicket and was caught t point. Rob Viney (66) replaced him and played for his runs, timing the ball nicely. Ben eventually got out before C. Owen (0) and R. Marsh (0) both ‘missed a straight one’! Allowing Alex Lines (11) to hit a 4 and a 6 of his first two balls. Leaving Uxbridge needed 226 to win.
Despite some good hitting in the first two over’s Uxbridge never looked like getting the runs. The Rogers brothers used the new ball well, each taking one wicket. Alex Matthew took 2 wickets and bowled well. A. lines did failed to take any wickets, again. To wrap things up, each taking three wickets the leg spinners B Matthews and Robbie Marsh bowled extremely well. Amersham bowled Uxbridge out 105 runs short of their target.
