Match report A good game of cricket with lots to learn for the youngsters with the ball in hand.

Uxbridge won the toss and were delighted to put us into bat, on what they thought looked like a bowler friendly wicket. Langley and Shuttle very quickly proved this statement to be inaccurate until Shuts wafted at a wide one. Fleming and Langley put on a few more before the gap wedge came out and the former was caught and bowled. Uxbridge bowled tightly over the next few overs tying Amersham down, however the innings finished strongly with youngsters Chalal, Knight, Ella and Ferneyhough finding the boundary often. Langerly batted long and well for his 85 but got tired in amongst all this action and basically fell on his sword.

Amersham started well with the ball, however never really dominated in the wickets department. Uxbridge were reduced to 85-2 at the halfway stage but the game wasn’t over with the outfield speeding up under the day’s sun and two experienced settled batsmen at the crease. Experience and fatigue began to show, and what was quite boisterous start from the team in the field began to flatten out as life began to get tough.

Uxbridge did well to chase the total down, a few big overs and pressure mounting was the difference. Much to learn but we don’t deserve to be so far down the table - we’ll, so their captain pointed out after the match! Bring on the next round but firstly Princes Risborough next week!
