SENIOR CRICKET PRESEASON NEWS 2024

18 Feb 2024

As we move towards Spring the cricket season comes ever closer and we can look forward to the new season and some good days at Shardeloes.

I thought it would be a good idea to update you all on some changes for 2024 and some early season dates for your diary:

Winter Nets

We have 3 sessions planned at Dr Challoner’s Amersham

Thursday 14th March 6:30 to 8pm

Thursday 21st March 6:30 to 8pm

Thursday 28th March 6:30 to 8pm

We will then move outdoors on Wednesday evenings at Shardeloes from 3rd April. This year the sessions will be organised and run by Michael Payne with assistance from Madhuka and MO. They will comprise batting, bowling and fielding drills to ensure we are all ready for the league games on Saturdays. Please support these evenings they are designed to improve performance. The bar will be open after for a drink.

We will kick the season off with an interclub game on the 13th April details to follow, but it will be a good opportunity for players to get on the grass and for everyone to enjoy a social day. The bar will be open and there will be food available in the evening. Lets make this a great start to the season.

Friendly fixtures and the HCPL T20 are pencilled in before the league season starts on the 11th of May for all 4 Legue sides.

Captains for 2024

1st X1

Mo Choudhry will be taking over as skipper this year. Mo is a regular minor county all rounder for Bucks and is currently Bucks 2nd X1 captain. Mo brings experience to the role and has a lot of ideas to help take our club forward. I have every confidence Mo will be a great success leading the club this summer. We have an exciting young squad!

2nd X1

After a long stint as Chris Flemming’s vice captain Chappers will take control of the 2’s for 2024, I am sure he will be successful with the talent available.

3rd X1

Chris Flemming will bring a wealth of experience to our 3rd X1 and be pivotal in helping develop the really talented group of colts that are now ready to progress in to senior sides.

4th X1

The 4th X1 is in the capable hands of Duncan Ward. Duncan has represented ACC for many years at every level and is charged with providing an enjoyable and competitive entry level for our emerging young players.

Good luck to everyone playing this season lets make it a memorable one!
