Match report We picked this fixture up on the exchange and travelled with assurances that our ten men would be playing Stoke's second eleven. We got there to find that they had only been able to raise one side on the day, so we were effectively playing their first. However, they promised to make a game of it and gave us an eleventh man, Clive Bourne: we'd come, so we took them at their word and stayed.

Having been invited to bat first, Amersham made 185 all out in 36.3 overs, thanks largely to Greg Copley, whom his brother Seb had recruited at 1.15 pm.

Stoke Green 'revised ' their usual batting order, not least to allow those of their players who had spent the night in the clubhouse celebrating their skipper's birthday to get some sleep. However, that should not detract form an excellent bowling and fielding performance from Amersham, which produced a famous victory. Stoke Green were bowled out for 168 in 34 overs.

Credit must go to Stoke for being true to the best traditions of Sunday cricket.
