Match report Chesham (215-5) lost to Amersham (216-4) by 6 wickets.

On a scorching April day(if such a thing is possible) Amersham visited Chesham and came away with a 6 wicket win. Chesham's ground, despite the difficulties associated with the destruction of their pavilion, was in great condition and all was set fair for a high scoring contest.

Matt Rance (66) and Alex Morgan (46) put on 103 for the first wicket and were rarely troubled by the Amersham attack until Morgan fell leg before wicket to Tom Dixon (1-24). The trio of Amersham spinners provided different challenges for the Chesham batsmen and wickets fell periodically during the next phase of the game. Barney Atkins (9) was bowled by David Atkinson (2-32), and Jason Rance (14) fell leg before wicket to the same bowler. Abhay Mayer dismissed Matt Rance, courtesy of a good low catch by Jack Rogers at backward point. Chesham finished perhaps 30 runs short of a really competitive score thanks to some excellent bowling at the innings' conclusion from Jack Rogers (1-30). In the penultimate over of the innings he bowled Andy Goddard (23) and did not concede a run.

Adris Ahmed (3-40), as he often does, made early breakthroughs, bowling Abhay Mayer & Andy Viney and trapping Hugh Jackson lbw. However, a rapid partnership of 172 between Luke Jackson (96) and Rob Viney (92*) saw Amersham to the brink of victory. Jackson was particularly effective with his 96 coming off only 80 balls, while Viney drove beautifully through the off side.

Victory came with nearly 10 overs to spare as a looming thunderstorm rumbled up the Chess Valley.
