AMERSHAM CC Saturday 2nd X1 v Wycombe Dragons 1 on Sat 11 Jun 2011 at 13:00
AMERSHAM CC Lost by 81 runs

Match report Ooh, this is a bit modern. Sat in front of the scorebox in the sun with Mikey Viney and Duncan Ward batting in front of me. Today dear readers you are going to get real time updates. Am I a blogger? Where's the blogosphere? Is Duncan Ward internet enabled?

How is the game situated you may be asking. Well....... High Wycombe were asked to bat first. And they steadily built a total of 206. At some stages the score looked like it could be a lot larger. Numbers 2, 3 and 4; Weston, Zaib and Hardy; all batted well for 27, 60, and 43. Numerous bowling changes followed until Jack Rogers came back for a second spell and began a mini collapse. From 159 for 3 onwards Rogers and latterly Paresh Somani took wickets. Jack was very good, the fielding was sharp and at half time things seemed in the balance.

News flash- unfortunately Wardy has just been given out LBW with the score on 109. Me thinks we might have blown it.

Amersham then began badly, Langley out LBW second ball. Will Gray was getting going when caught at slip for 18. Stephenson and Weston stealthily built a good partnership. Both looked relatively untroubled until Stevo edged one into his sticks. And the rot really set in when Paul (40) chipped one to square leg. And you are now up to date. Mikey Viney has just smashed a four, we are 115 for 7 after 34 and I predict a riot- sorry, I predict a loss. Right- a short radio silence as I need a wee. Never see that on the BBC website do ya? This is live and living/teetering on the edge.

Right, I'm back and nicely refreshed thank you. Viney has fallen, caught at mid on, and it's down to McKay and Somani, with Rogers in reserve, to bat out the final 12 overs. Jack has just been given his instructions, even though I can't be certain they registered in his fast bowlers head. The conspiracy theories are swirling around the benches. Will Jack try to take this opportunity to impress the selection committee with a quick 50? Or will he sacrifice his self interest for the team? And is that really a legal cricket bat he's going to use? As we thought- we fell short against a good Wycombe team.
