Match report A disappointing result, though ultimately only the weather could have prevented an OMT victory. Too many Amersham batsmen gave their wickets away cheaply when seemingly well set and our tea time score never looked like being enough on a hard and true wicket at the new home of OMT. Rich Stephenson batted really well, though should perhaps have converted his 74 into a big ton which was there for the taking, whilst at the other end of the spectrum Matt Mckay showed admirable patience in chiselling out his 16 runs.
With OMT 91-1 after 20 overs, it was going to take something magical for Amersham to come away with anything, and even though Gandalf banged his staff and summoned up the rain it was not enough to prevent the inevitable. This correspondent is reliably informed that OMT secured victory, but cannot add much further detail as it was so dark by the end of the game that it was impossible to actually see anything from a position on the boundary :-)
