Match report Amersham's committed nine-man team lost unsurprisingly to a strong Wycombe 4th XI by eight wickets. Despite winning the toss and being fully aware of the likely effects of overnight rain on the wicket the stand-in captain, David Mackintosh, opted to bat on the basis that he did not wish to subject his nine men, four of whom were relatively immobile to an afternoon of leather chasing - also he could not see where fifty overs of bowling could possibly have come from.

After being 10 for 3, Amersham staged a bit of a recovery through Ed Lloyd, 10, David Mackintosh 30, Elliot Ayling, 26, and a good first knock for ten years of 22 from Mushtaq Musa. Nelson, 111, was never going to be nearly enough but the bowlers acquitted themselves well with little luck - Lloyd and Allum showed encouraging performances, as did Holloway on his first outing for two years. Ayling kept well to add to his swashbuckling, if slightly unorthodox, knock.
