Match report Well it was really nice to play a game in the thirds after having to cancel the previous two league fixtures due to availability!
Amersham entertained top of the table Windsor who were boasting a 100% record thus far in their league campaign.
Windsor won the toss and inserted Amersham on a green and wet Ban Meadow pitch! We got off to a healthy start with Mustak, Alex and Baggy all playing shots and progressing the score in the early overs. The middle order consolidated the position with Ian scoring a good 32 and excellent contributions from Elliot Ayling and Ed Lloyd. The result was a challenging target of 239.
Seb Copley and Felix Allum opened up the bowling with promising spells and at two down for not many Windsor looked shaky. Aided by a couple of dropped catches Windsor got back on top, but then again Amersham responded with tight spells from Ed Lloyd (who showed great promise)and Alex Rogers which made it very interesting. A very good direct hit run out from Seb Copley made a draw a possibility as Windsor struggled to get over the line. Then a turning point as Seb again fielded brilliantly to run out the Windsor captain unfortunately the umpire aplogised for his poor positioning and consequent inability to give the decision!Unbelieveable clearly two yards out!! A very good game of cricket was a little soured by that moment and Windsor finally got home with 9 balls to spare!
Well done to everyone it was a great effort so let's build on this for the rest of theseason
