Match report The Thames Valley League sent a side to Shardeloes as part of cricket week to celebrate the league's 40th anniversary. On a green wicket the home side won the toss and bowled. What followed was a quality fielding performance, led by Jaco Nel and guest Charlie Hopkins (A. N. Other below) who both bowled excellent opening spells and finished by Stuart Rogers who returned remarkable figures of 3-0 off his three overs. For the visitors only Richard McLeod, Akshay Reddy and Jeremy Davis got going for the visitors. Reddy was beaten by a skilful and brave piece of bowling from Abhay Mayer after launching an initial onslaught while McLeod felt the pressure of some Jack Rogers dots before being caught on the off side.

Despite the TVL XI's modest total, the quality of the visiting bowling was always likely to make the chase tricky. Rob Viney and Hugh Coles perished early on as Jon Mahood, a well-known quantity to the batting side, and Matt Tennant, whose left-arm spell was highly impressive, turned the screw. First Hugh Jackson and then Andy Viney and Luke Jackson provided some acceleration to make the game safe before Charlie hit the last two balls to the boundary to secure the victory.
