Match report Yet another fantastic grab of victory from the jaws of defeat by the boys.
GX started well at 10 an over for the first part of the game. Tom Ayling took 2 wickets to keep them in check. Then Michael Viney, Ashley Turney and Felix Allum
bowled tidily to keep the run rate down and take a wicket each. Seb Copley was then the star of the bowling attack with 5 wickets which kept GX down to 108 all out.
Amersham chased slowly to start as GX bowled well and the wicket was helpful to spinners. Alistair Grant, Robert Lloyd and Henry Scott played watchful innings to take us to 47 for 4 after 12 overs. The innings was bogged down until Tom Ayling came in and injected some urgency. With 33 required of the last 3 overs Amersham were in deep trouble but Michael Viney (25*) and Ed lloyd (11*) put together a partnership which caused panic in the GX players and we eventually won off the penultimate ball. A great match and thanks to all the supporters who braved the freezing conditions.
