Match report Amersham entertained Wokingham at Shardeloes on Saturday. Having won the toss it was no surprise that Dan Reddyhough, the Wokingham skipper, elected to bowl first on a damp and blustery day. His opening bowler, New Zealander Simon Smidt bowled an effective opening spell, swinging the ball at a good pace. He induced a thin edge from Joe Shuttle and this set the tone for the rest of the innings. All Amersham batsmen found the going difficult as Smidt and Simon Myles bowled very good spells. Rob Viney worked very hard for his 31 before falling victim to Smidt, and a partnership Abhay Mayer and Andy Viney brought Amersham towards a respectable total. The tail, however, fell to Myles and a total of 141 did not appear adequate as ate players took tea. After tea the conditions deteriorated and rain made the game unpleasant to play and watch. A good low catch by Rob Viney behind the stumps off Stuart Rogers accounted for Dan Reddyhough, but Rocky (38*) batted steadily despite being hit twice on the helmet. After a further break for rain Andy Viney bowled Jack Turner for 10, but Stuart Parsons took the game away from Amersham with an aggressive 58. He eventually skied a catch to mid off, but by then the damage was done and Wokingham recorded a victory by 7 wickets.
