Match report Amersham got back to winning ways on Saturday with a comfortable win over Marlow. Having lost the toss Amersham were invited to field and produced an efficient and effective bowling and fielding display. Charley Crasborn (2-36) claimed 2 leg before wicket decisions in quick succession, the first of which broke an opening partnership of 29, before Andy Viney had Graham Paskins well caught in the covers. An excellent piece of fielding by Stuart Rogers removed Pistorious, Marlow's top scorer, run out for 31. Simon Carter and Russell Friend attempted to counterattack, but fell in quick succession to the off spin of Abhay Mayer (3-37), reducing the home team to 114-8. A flurry of attacking shots from Mark Dozell and Gary Lines added a further 30 before Alex Lines (3-13) wrapped the innings up with 2 wickets in 2 balls.

The run chase began smoothly, with yet another opening partnership in excess of 50 between Joe Shuttle (31) & Rob Viney (28), their 5th such stand of the season. Once they had negotiated a challenging opening spell from Cameron Denton and, particularly, Jamal Wight, which included 5 consecutive maidens, Shuttle was the more aggressive until he mistimed a cover drive off the offspin of Mark Dozell (2-18). Viney then unfurled several glorious shots, including a sumptuous straight 6 before falling LBW, also to Dozell. Chris Owen (26) & Chris Cann (33*) then put on 51 before Owen fell with 4 more required. Both batsmen played some fine shots, but also rotated the strike and did not allow the Marlow bowlers to build any pressure.

This win took Amersham back to 2nd in the league, 5 points behind leaders Reading.
