Match report Amersham visited Wokingham's new ground for the first time on Saturday, but returned home licking their wounds after a comprehensive defeat. Batting first on a new pitch proved challenging as the ball misbehaved more than might be usual, but the Wokingham bowlers exploited the variability extremely effectively. Two wickets fell in the first over as New Zealander Stevie Smidt first found Joe Shuttle's outside edge and then found Chris Owen's off stump. 1-2 after 1 over is never an easy situation to recover from but Chris Cann (18), Rob Viney (23) and Andy Viney (22) did their best, taking the score to 73-4 but two more quick wickets put the home team back in the driving seat. The Amersham lower order, however, were undone by the guile of Simon Myles (3-20) and subsided to 113 all out.

Quick wickets were essential if Amersham were to stand a chance of victory, but these were note forthcoming. A glimmer of hope arose when Charley Crasborn and Alex Lines took wickets in consecutive overs with the score on 40, but an aggressive innings of 40 from Hirst brought Wokingham to their victory target.
