Match report The old adage that catches win matches was never more true as Amersham failed to capitalise on an excellent bowling performance, the highlight being a return of 6-44 by David Sidebottom, with at least 8 catches being spilled to allow Burnham to post a challenging total of 225 that in truth should have been no more than 150/160. The opening pair of Rogers and Aylott were both rewarded with 2 wickets apiece and at 40-4 the door was well and truly opened, but a combination of good batting and poor fielding saw the Burnham pair of Miah(71) and Khan(83) add 133 for the 5th wicket despite the best efforts of Sidey.

The Amersham innings began slowly and batting was never to prove easy on a pitch offering some assistance to Burnham's spinners, and at the halfway point the score had only progressed to 71-3. Langley(46) and Weston(50) built a solid partnership of 83 for the 4th wicket but neither were ever able to really dominate the bowling and the required rate was always climbing, so when Langley departed with 70 still required off the final 6 overs it was inevitable that the game would finish in a draw. There were plenty of positives to take from the game but also some lessons to be learned.
