Match report Amersham bounced back from two disappointing defeats with an emphatic win on a cold and windy day at Windsor.

Skipper Ben Langley won the toss and had no hesitation in inviting the hosts to bat first on a damp pitch. And his opening bowlers didn’t let him down as both Duncan Ward and Jack Rogers started with unerring accuracy, giving the Windsor batsmen very few scoring opportunities. Wickets fell regularly as Ward (albeit with the luxury of the wind at his back!) bowled 15 overs unchanged and finished with 4-22. Rogers was no less impressive, despite feeling effects from his recent illness, and returned 2-14.

At 27-5, Amersham were mindful that Burnham, Chesham and OMTs had been allowed to recover from uncertain starts already this season, but this time Amersham applied relentless pressure. Rogers was replaced by Tim Aylott (4-19) who accounted for most of the lower order in his 8.2 overs, including Ganapathy (24) who was the only batsman to reach double figures. Windsor were eventually rolled over for just 57 in the 32nd over, and all six wickets taken bowling into the wind were clean bowled.

In reply Amersham made short work of their target, Nick Nguyen (16) played with his usual positive approach, before Hugh Jackson and Paul Langley completed the formalities. So with Amersham needing only 3 bowlers and 4 batsmen they had no fewer than 4 TFCs (Weston, Subbiah, Sidebottom and Tilbury)!
