Match report Amersham recorded a convincing victory in trying conditions at Shardeloes on Saturday over Wycombe 2s. With the rain threatening to end proceedings, Amersham were fortunate to get on the park at 3pm and maintain the pressure on table toppers Finchampsted.

Losing the toss, Amersham were asked to bowl first and despite a somewhat wayward start were able to dismiss Wycombe for a paltry 96 with Stuart Rogers (6-26) and Luke Douglas (3-17) proving far too disciplined for a young Wycombe side. Rogers was particularly effective, deceiving multiple batsmen in flight and bowling good lines and lengths hitting the top of off stump all afternoon.

Rob Viney (34*) and Bruce Friderichs (20) got the chase off to a perfect start against the Wycombe spinners, with Bruce punishing anything slightly loose before guiding one to slip. Amersham were never overly threatened in the chase, and despite the ongoing fears about the weather, Amersham were able to comfortably stroll over the line in the 31st over for the loss of 4 wickets.

Amersham host 4th place Chesham this weekend at Shardeloes in the local derby.
