Match report Amersham 3rd XI v Wycombe Dragons 2nd XI.

Amersham were soundly beaten by an impressive Wycombe Dragons outfit, on a warm afternoon at Little Kingshill.

Wycombe won the toss and opted to bat on a dry pitch, but were soon on the back foot after losing a wicket each to new ball bowlers Haseeb Ali (2-48) and Tim Aylott (1-60). But this brought together Gould (56) and Amjaid (107) who built a solid foundation before accelerating towards 200. Both batsmen played well, but the bowlers, especially Russian returner Robbie Marsh, were unlucky that nothing went to hand in the field. Ramzeen Ratnaraja (2-52) collected two deserved wickets, but after a late flurry of boundaries, Wycombe were able to declare on 257-5 after 49 overs.

Gould (5-28) produced an impressive opening spell, to reduce Amersham to 65-6 after just 18 overs, despite Mustak Musa’s hard-hitting 39. Although victory was never a realistic possibility, Amersham’s lower order Ratnaraja (16), Aylott (43), Renny Adams (25) and Haseeb Ali (10*) rallied to delay Wycombe’s comprehensive 99-run victory.
