Match report We arrived at Green Dragon Lane in quite a relaxed state as we had been confirmed as Champions of Division 4A the previous week. When inspecting the playing facilities we were disappointing to notice that there were no sightscreens and the outfield had been left long as the ground is also used for football in September. However the wicket looked okay and it was no surprise that Wycombe elected to bat first after winning the toss.

Ward (0-66) and Srithanran (1-47) began well and we had restricted them to 36-1 after 12. Unfortunately that was the end of the restriction as Wycombe's total of 308 included 16 sixes. The bowling was shared around and this included Stephenson (1-22) and Fleming (1-23). It was a difficult afternoon in the field and this game definitely had an end of season feel to it. It would take a very impressive batting display to win this one.

Our innings started badly with Haddock being bowled in the first over. However his opening partner Adam Ali (68) showed great fluency in his batting and hit the ball very cleanly. With wickets being lost at regular intervals and no partnerships really getting going we found ourselves on the brink of a second defeat in a row at 152-9 from 37 overs. However a 54 run partnership from Raza (38) and Atkinson (12 n.o.) not only saw us achieve maximum batting points but came within 15 balls of savouring the most unlikely of draws. Both Raza and Atkinson hit sixes and were playing some very effective cricket shots. Unfortunately with only a few balls remaining and no chance of us reaching the target of 308 Raza decided to try and reverse sweep a spinner which went horribly wrong and he was adjudged LBW.

Overall it was a good team effort. The result wasn't the most important part of the day as we had earnt the right to enjoy the fixture and play without any pressure as we were already confirmed as first place finishers in the league.
