Match report An important league game that we had to win to stand any chance of being champions at the end of the season saw us welcome Brondesbury Casuals to Shardeloes. Stand in skipper AV started badly by losing the toss which meant we had to field on a rather warm afternoon.

We started well and kept the boundaries to a minimum mainly due to the impressive spell from Stuart who claimed figures of 4-25 from his ten overs. Brondesbury's opener batted through and finished with 129 n.o. but he was quite fortunate when he looked to be definitely out stumped but the umpire (which was one of Brondesbury's players) refused to raise his finger! They finished on 229-8 which is probably more than they should have got.

In reply we began cautiously. Alex Tilbury paced his innings perfectly for a well deserved 97 and was out when a delivery struck his thigh pad as he was looking to play the ball through mid wicket and to his amazement it ricocheted onto the back of his bat and looped up to first slip. A bizarre dismissal but an innings which largely contributed in us being victorious. Adam Ali also batted very well and paced his innings perfectly. His 79 n.o. showed just what a good player he currently is and will be for years to come.

An important win and next week will see us travel to Cockfosters for another must win league game.
