Match report Another victory sees the Amersham Sunday 1st XI with 2 wins from 2 games played in this year's Chess Valley League Division 1 campaign.

After losing the toss and fielding first, the slightly damp surface played to our strengths early with Sham (0-21), Stuart (1-27) and Jack all bowling economically in their opening spells. At drinks, Chesham had managed 75-0 and there was every chance of them making 200 plus at the end of their 45 overs. However, spells from Maduka (1-32) and Robbie Marsh (2-50) gave us the breakthrough and kept the runs to a minimum. Jack's second spell gave us added momentum through impeccable consistency and wickets, leaving him with figures of 4-31. Chesham ended up with 188 from their 45 and it was ours to win.

Our run chase hinged on a simply phenomenal individual batting effort. After losing both openers, we were on 40-2 when Maduka launched a batting offensive on the Chesham bowling. Going through his full catalogue of shots (including the left handed spectacular), the fielding side were spectators to boundaries scored at all areas of the pitch. A single to bring up his first hundred for the club was bettered with a six over long-on to win the match. 133 runs from 107 balls saw us to victory with 7 overs to spare and is a performance which will be difficult to beat over the remaining league games.

A friendly against the Cryptics in an all day game is next week before the league season resumes.
