Match report A difficult day for the Sunday 1st XI. We travelled to Hemel Hempstead to face our joint leaders in the Chess Valley league in a losing effort.

We set off from Shardeloes on time but after Stuart threw a comment of "leave the sat nav, you literally can't miss the ground", it was fitting that half of the team got lost on the way. Stuart therefore did the toss and we were put into the field. Tom Player set the nutritional standards for the day with his Tupperware box of plain rice (apparently the secret to good fielding) but Hemel set the batting standards with a score after the first 10 overs akin to a 20/20 match. From 85 for 0, we did a good job of slowing them down but the shot boundaries at Hemel meant the boundaries kept flowing. Jack was the pick of the bowlers with his 3 - 57.

In reply, Stuart was defiant with the bat and took the attack to the Hemel bowlers. However, although up with the rate, regular wickets saw us fall away and we were all out in the 37th over.

Next week we have Holtwhites Trinibis at home and hopefully back to winning ways! The league title is still on for us.
