AMERSHAM CC Sunday 1st X1 v Holtwhites Trinibis on Sun 09 Aug 2015 at 13:00
AMERSHAM CC Won by 8 wickets
Match report
A great win for the Sunday 1st XI sees our title ambitions stay alive with a convincing win against Holwhites Trinibis.
After turning up with satisfactory preparation (10 players, an umpire, the clubhouse prepared, stumps and sight screens at the ready) all we were missing was an opposition. After turning their cars around and leaving Amersham on the Hill, we begun our reduced 40 over games at 1.45pm.
We won the toss, chose to bowl and a made an early breakthrough by getting an opener caught behind off the bowling of Rahim. Andy Viney was our stand-in keeper for the day and was involved in 5 dismissals, increasing his repertoire of cricketing talents. Stuart bowled with pace and consistency, and Robbie Marsh once again picked up wickets with balls which most batsmen were unable to pick. Maduka finished off the innings in the last over for 202, which may have been 40 more than was deserved.
In reply, Amersham were off to a quick start with some strong stroke play from Maduka before he fell for 27. After losing another wicket, we were able to close off the game with a partnership just short of 150 between Andy Viney and the skipper. After scoring what seemed like 25 miles of twos, Andy finished the game with a hook for six into the nets and finished on a brilliantly made 94*.
Next week we are away to Radlett and a chance to really apply some pressure to the top of the table.
