Match report The match against the Shardeloes XI always produces a tight finish and this year's meet was no exception to the rule.

After a superb Mel Weston lunch, light refreshments and a warm up of low quality slip catching using single-purpose training gear, Amersham were put into the field. Callum Tilbury bowled was the highlight of the bowling attack with control and consistent areas. As always, Maduka took wickets and finished off the innings with 4-15. There was some good hitting displayed by the Shardloes XI and on a damp track a score of 182 was certainly competitive.

Hugh and Blangie started well and we lost our first wicket for 70 runs. Nugget and Jack produced a flurry of boundaries but when the skipper was removed on 165 there was a panicked collpase. Player ran out Freddie before being bowled (leaving him with weekend figures of 4-3), Stuart was caught at long off and Maduka was brilliantly caught at cover.

Enter Callum Tilbury with 7 needed. A single and a no-ball-four left us with a free hit and 2 runs to win the game. Callum only managed to hit the free at mid-wicket where we was caught. A single off the last ball of the over saw scores tied. Off the next ball he was able to hit a full toss away for four and Amersham managed to seal the victory.
