Match report Amersham faced last years Champions on Sunday hoping to get the first win of the season. Burnham's skipper decided the walk to the track was too far in the ever increasing heat and the toss was done outside the changing rooms. Nik Collison keen for the coin to land on the opposite side of what had been called as he knew what the reaction would be if we had to field. Burnham won the toss and unsuprisingly elected to bat a decision they may have begun to regret as the wickets started to fall at an alarming rate. Enter Nadeem who it has to be said would eventually produce a match winning innings of 72*. I feel we should have restricted our opponents to under 150 having had them at 54-5 at one stage.

Rob and Elliot knew they had to build the platform that we had craved so desperately to chase down 187 runs to win. They put on 92 and then drinks arrived. Drinks are a killer but I have never witnessed 4 wickets being lost for only 2 runs. The skipper had to steady the ship with Luke Jackson and things were looking good as they both kept the scoreboard ticking. That was until Nik decided that he would try and cut a ball on middle and was bowled. Andy came in and has been in a decent run of form in the past few weeks however a direct hit from some 70 yards put paid to his innings and that left too much for Luke to do. From 92 for 0 we had collapsed to 147 all out and the game which looked like we were going to stroll at one point had slipped away.

We need to improve and fast 2 points only courtesy from the game being cancelled is not a great start to the season. Windsor this coming Sunday lets hope we start our winning run in front of her majesty
