Match report A much better effort with the bat by Amersham on a chilly day at Shardeloes. With the ground in outstanding condition, and a wicket which provided interest for the bowlers whilst having enough pace and bounce to enable batsmen to score freely when they were in, Jackson again elected to get the runs on the board. Fleming and Viney provided a solid foundation, reaching 39 without loss when the rain came after 18 overs. 8 overs in the match were lost at this point, reducing Amersham's allocation to 48. Viney edged to slip on the first ball after the break, bringing the classy Chris Cann to the crease. He and a conservative Fleming put on 103 at 5 an over to put Amersham ina strong position, with Cann dismissed sweeping for 72. Fleming then broke free, upping the scoring rate before he was dismissed for 70 with the score on 181 and Amersham on target for maximum batting points. However, a late flurry of dot balls and wickets meant Amersham could only manage 194 for 7.

With the match poised on a knife edge, it was with some disappointment that the match was eventually abandoned without another ball being bowled after an hour of steady rain. A more promising performance by Amersham nevertheless.
