AMERSHAM CC Saturday 2nd X1 v Kidmore End 2 on Sat 03 May 2008 at 13:30
AMERSHAM CC Lost 33 runs
Match report
Amersham 2nds won the toss and elected to field on a windy afternoon against Kidmore End 2nds, with Amersham welcoming back Brad Holt after a spell out of the club last year with an ankle injury. Brad started brightly and bowled a tight opening spell dismissing Patey LBW for 6 and giving Johnny Andrews a great work out behind the stumps. At the other end Hannok Gill used the conditions to his advantage and got the ball swinging away from the right hander with Jupp dropping a regulation catch at first slip. Steve Emsley was brought into the attack and his first ball produced a wicket with Safraz nicking it to Stu Rogers at second slip. Shortly after this, old timer Rajabali dismissed the other Kidmore opener for 7 and Amersham really were on top and with Emsley getting another wicket, Kidmore were 51 for 6. Enter Mahoman at number 7 who batted with an air of arrogance, hitting the ball cleanly and hard (ask Jupp who dropped a screamer at cover :-)). Mahoman took the Kidmore innings on and ended on 76 not out with Kidmore finishing on 184 for 8. Dissappointing for Amersham but noteworthy perfomances with the ball from Brad Holt (welcome back), Steve Emsley (Mr Cricket) and Rajabali.
Amersham opened their innings with Johnny Andrews and Steve Emsley and got off to a solid start with Andrews going for 18. James Wood came to the crease and looked settled with Emsley, who stroked the ball around majestically. Wood was then trapped LBW, as was Jupp shortly afterwards and Amersham were 53 for 3 and looking rattled. Emsley however continued to keep strike and attempted to get Amersham home moved comfortably to 50, supported by Brad Holt and then Stuart Rogers. Unfortuntely Emsley ran out of partners and in an attempt to win the match was caught for 75 and Amersham's chances of winning the game dwindled. Amersham were all out for 151. Man of the match must go to Steve Emsley - awesome all round performance.
A well contested pre-league friendly and best of luck to Kidmore End for the season.
