Match report When play finally resumed at 4.30pm with Amersham on 22-0 after 6 overs in a match reduced to 70 overs, there seemed little prospect that the home side would be celebrating another 25 point haul later that evening that would see them move up to 2nd in the league, but that was to reckon without a thoroughly convincing performance with bat and ball.

Amersham won the toss and elected to bat and openers Sam Mayne (24) and Paul Weston (56) put on 76 for the opening wicket, and then Olly Haddock (47), Danny Bulman ( 70no) and Jack Kilgannnon proceded to smash the Cav & Reds attack to most corners of the cornfield to enable Amersham to declare on 237-3 after only 31 overs, with an astonishing 100 runs being added in the last 6 overs of the innings.


In reply, the visiting batsmen began agressively, putting on 60 in quick time for the loss of only 1 wicket, and it was the introduction of of Nick Moore ( 2-7) and especially Tim Aylott that dramatically changed the game as he returned thoroughly deserved figures of 7-38 during an excellent 13 over spell. To the credit of the C&R batsmen, they carried on attacking in search of batting points, even though the game was well beyond them and Michell hit his way to an entertaining 51 not out. With overs slipping away it was fitting that Aylott should wrap things up to secure maximum points by bowling Jackson with only 5 overs remaining.


Next Saturday sees Amersham 2nds visit third placed Cove for a game that could go a long way in deciding the outcome of the season.
