Amersham v Horspath

In a tough low scoring match Amersham lost to league leaders Horspath a result which confirmed the visitors as HCPL Div 2 champions. However, with one match left and second placed Oxford having their match abandoned it is still all to play for for the final promotion slot. Simply, if Amersham win at Cookham Dean next Saturday, Oxford have to win at Thame Town to hold on to 2nd position otherwise the Shardeloes men will leapfrog them into a promotion place.

Back to Shardeloes where the home side were inserted and cruised to 96-1 with Bruce Friderichs in sublime form scoring 61 with ease ably supported by Rob Viney (29). They were out in quick succession which despite some dogged determination from influential all-rounder Rich Stephenson lead to a collapse to 112-7. Chris Owen (26) lead a brief recovery supported by a gritty innings by Adam Crossley determined not to lose his wicket as the Amersham innings finished on 151 all out.

The Horspath response followed a similar fashion with the visitors cruising at 85-1 before losing wickets steadily with Alex Lines taking 3 for 28 but they managed to scrape past the Amersham total with 3 overs and 4 wickets to spare. Oh for another 30 runs!

The 2nd XI won an exciting match away at Ruislip which put them back up to 2nd place in TVL Div 3b and in with a chance of promotion. It was a game they were always going to lose as they mustered 228 thanks to a fluent 92 from Callum Tilbury but at 178-2 Ruislip were certainly in the driving seat. Ross Haines then took 3 wickets in one over, the fielders caught 3 brilliant catches as they bowled Ruislip out for 223 winning by just 5 runs.

The 3rd XI ensured promotion even though they lost at home to Princes Risborough and just 4 points next week away at Hayes will mean they get promoted as champions.
