Match report Amersham cruised to the top of Div 2 in the HCPL by overcoming a strong Aston Rowant side in a hard fought match. Rowant elected to bat and despite losing Condon early on to a fine catch by Woody Bowcock off Stuart Rogers they continued untroubled to 60 for 1. Then some fine bowling from Maduka Liyanapathiranage and Sam Helm reduced the visitors to 77 for 7 and in some trouble. However some sensible batting after lunch saw Rowant put on 60 for the last three wickets as they were bowled out for 138. Maduka ended with 5 for 33 and Sam Helm took 4 for 32.

It was a tough chase against a good bowling attack but the Amersham batsmen stuck to their task lead by skipper Andy Viney who top scored with 32. They won comfortably in the end by 5 wickets and 15 overs to spare as Adam Ali, trying to emulate his brother's efforts last week, hit the winning one bounce four over mid wicket.

The Shardeloes men are top of the league for now 10 points clear of local rivals Chesham in second. A visit to newcomers Great Brickhill beckons next Saturday.
