Match report Amersham 3rds made the most of the rare treat of playing a home fixture at Shardeloes by recording a convincing 7 wicket victory over Stoke Green 2nds.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat but were soon in trouble at 48-5, largely due to an impressive spell of 4-12 from Duncan Ward who was well supported by Messrs Crossley and Tilbury. Sensible middle order batting, particularly from Desai who made a patient 52, allowed Stoke Green to post a repectable 200 all out, with Roy Sundiram picking up 4-29.

In reply the Amersham innings got off to the worst possible start when Nick Nguyen was dismissed in the first over, but Graeme McPhillips and Olly Haddock then put on an increasingly fluent partnership of 78 to dampen the enthusiasm of the visitors. It was something of a surprise when Haddock was rather tamely dismissed for 31, but thereafter Tilbury (44 ) and McPhillips dealt mostly in boundaries with a dominant partnership of 105 in only 9 overs before McPhillips deservedly reached an excellent hundred ( containing 17x4s & 2x6s) and Amersham duly won by 7 wickets with the best part of 18 overs in hand.
