Match report Despite being on the wrong end of a 6 wicket defeat at the hands of Marlow 2nds, there were nonetheless many positive elements for Amersham to take from their performance, most notably with the bat.

Amersham won the toss and elected to bat first but were soon struggling at 30-4 as the Marlow openers took early wickets. When skipper Weston was dismissed with the score on 65, a low first innnings total seemed on the cards, but this then brought together Alex Tilbury (93) and Joe Weston (45) who put on an increasingly assured 115 runs for the 6th wicket. Both fell just short of their respective deserved milestones and the Amersham innings closed on 216 all out, and the Amersham team were undoubtedly the happier at tea, which it should be mentioned was a very good tea!

The Amersham bowlers were then perhaps unfortunate to encounter a one-man wrecking ball in the form of Joe Brown who smashed his way to a brutal 162 not out with no bowlers being spared the onslaught. The two younger members of the Amersham attack, Joe Weston and Ryan Treadwell, both bowled well in the face of batting far superior to anything they are likely to encounter for a very long time. Brown's innings saw Marlow home to victory in an astonishing 26 overs, though without his batting the outcome would have undoubtedly been very different.
