Match report Amersham entertained Kidmore End at Shardeloes on Saturday 2nd May, and a 45 over game ended in a close draw, with Amersham 13 runs short of Kidmore End's total of 216.. Kidmore End were asked to bat first by Luke Jackson upon winning the toss and Amersham struck early when Monty Khandelwal had Tom Sheldon caught at square leg by Alex Lines. Alex, making his debut for the club after his arrival from Australia during the week bowled well and deserved better figures than his 1-44 of 13 overs. The Kidmore End 2nd wicket partnership between Jeff Sheldon and Ian Cuthbertson wes very productive. Sheldon scored 80 and Cuthbertson 66 before both fell in quick succession. Andy Viney was the pick of the Amersham bowlers, picking up 5 wickets as the Kidmore batsmen attempted to plunder quick runs towards the end. He bowled quickly and accurately and was well supported by some good catching.

216 was a competitive but not daunting total and a third wicket partnership between Andy Viney (60) and Hugh Jackson (56) had Amersham well on course for victory. However, the run out of Andy Viney triggered something of a collapse in the middle order and only some late hitting from Alex Lines, Monty Khandelwal and David Atkinson kept Amersham in the hunt. Eventually, though the runs did not come quite quickly enough and the game ended as a draw.
