AMERSHAM CC Sunday 1st X1 v North Maidenhead on Sun 28 Jun 2009 at 14:00
AMERSHAM CC Won 63 Runs

Match report Amersham were due to have a break in the League season and host the Shardeloe's XI match, however this didn't materialise due to calendar clashes and we managed to face North Maidenhead. They themselves were due to play Aston Rowant who had progressed further into the National Village Cup so it worked well as fixture congestion was starting to occur due to the Bucks Cup in a few weeks time.

Amersham had batted first last time and amassed a huge 282 for 5 something which they were soon to repeat duringa strange, dark and muggy Sunday afternoon. Amersham had lost the toss although somewhat to Collison's surprise their skipper said they would have a bowl although pleaded with me not to tell his team what had happened. R Viney and Ketteringham opened up and were soon finding the boundary with no trouble, although Ketteringham did manage to pick out the cover fielder on numerous occasions when putting it either side seemed a lot easier. Ketteringham(40) had once more failed to go on and post a big score, looking set he played a lazy shot and was adjudged LBW. Ketteringham seemed to think he hit it although the umpires thought otherwise. Jackson entered the crease looking to build some momentum however once more he fell cheaply caught going for a lavish shot having only scored 13. Rob(100) had smashed his way to another Sunday century before play an uncharacteristic shot and was stumped by Malpas. Collison, again like Ketteringham had failed to go on and reach three figures in the last few weeks. At first he found it difficult to adapt to conditions and was getting heckled by the crowd who cheered or should I say jeered at every run that came of the bat. Collison(39) had to start increasing the run rate and he did initially before playing down the wrong line and being cleaned bowled. Andy waltzed to the crease knowing in the previous few weeks he had caressed the ball to all parts of the pitch at a strike rate well over 150. Viney(58*) didn't disappoint the crowd leaving them all to heckle Collison once more asking why he didn't get out sooner. Amersham finished up 1 run better than 2 weeks ago on 283 and had lost 1 less wicket as well.

The stage was set for another thumping win although North Maidenhead who had been aided by a few more 1st team players had other ideas. Monty bowled 2 catastrophic overs which went for 27 whilst Lines was keeping it tight at the other end conceding just 3 from his 2 overs. Lines removed the dangerous Khan for 32 which steadied the ship with wickets beginning to fall at regular intervals throughout the afternoon. Ashraf(79) was never really given any support as Robbie Marsh(4-26) tormented the lower order with a fine spell of spin bowling. In between this Ketteringham had bowled the opposition into the match with 1 over for 17, Sidebottom took 1 for 37 off 7, Rogers 2 for 21 off 6 and Viney 0 for 23 off 4. North Maidenhead had weathered better than the previous week and managed a respectable 220 all out. My thanks to them for playing this game with both teams walking away with 4 points and Amersham continuing thier march towards the Sunday League Title.
