AMERSHAM CC Sunday 1st X1 v North Maidenhead on Sun 14 Jun 2009 at 14:00
AMERSHAM CC Won 135 Runs

Match report On a hot and stuffy day at Shardeloes Amersham were looking to maintain their 100% winning run and increased their lead at the top of the Sunday League. The game began after a short delay as North Maidenhead were waiting on a few colts, Amersham won the toss and had no hesistation in batting first. Hugh Jackson(18) had some 'work' to do so said he would like to open and 'tee-off'. However the innings didnt quite got to plan and he was out in the 5th over and even managed to resist playing a sweep shot. This brought A Viney to the crease to partner his brother Rob in what could have been an explosive partnership until Rob(59) chipped it in the air to backward point. Andy once more played a backseat role as Elliot went on the offensive smashing 46 off 38 balls before being caught. Andy paced his innings perfectly and brought up his 100 after both Collison(11) and L Jackson(2) had departed in quick succession. He was joined by Alex Lines(16*) who like un the game against Farnham managed to despatch the ball to all parts of the ground with 52 runs coming off the last 4 overs. A competitive total which the captain would have settled for at the start of the match when at one point looked like being in excess of 300.

After a scrumptious tea in the gentleman's bar due to a birthday party in the main part of the pavilion Amersham took to the field with the task of registering their 7th win of the season. Boris Johnson(1-14) opened the bowling and managed to tempt N Patel into a loose shot to Collison at cover. At the other end Alex Lines(0-8) bowled a tight spell for little reward. He was told to bowl at his field which he did well until Collison threw at the stumps and Will Gray backing up let the ball past for 5. Alex was understanderbly unhappy and explained that is why he doesnt bowl to his field. The chuckle brothers Sidebottom(0-27) and Marsh(0-25) were hauled off after attempting to get North Maidenhead back into the game. The captain had to turn to someone for inspiration and that man was 'Belliot'. An impressive spell of bowling not backed up with the keeping as 'Belliot' could have had more as Collison put the gloves on for the first and last time in 3 years. 'Belliot' finished with figures of 4-33 off 7 overs and the game was all but over. There was still time for Harry Heslop to get his 2 for naff all as Luke put as Amersham bowled their opponents out with 6 overs to spare.

The challenge is to maintain this level of performance as we will be tested and that will more than likely be next week away o Aston Rowant which saw a game of over 600 runs last year. Lets keep our focus and remain unbeaten throughout the season.
