Match was Abandoned

Match report AMERSHAM DENIED BY THE RAIN
Typically all games in League 4a were abandoned due to rain save for the league leaders who duly added a further 20 points to their increasingly insurmountable tally.
Choosing to bowl first on a dank day at the "shabby chic" Durants ground, Amersham were denied an early success by the stoic Booth (62) and elegant Beardley (28). Rogers (0-21) again bowled with fire and control but little luck whilst Khandelwal (0-18), after a loose start, was denied a nailed on LBW decision by their OCD umpire.
The breakthrough came in the 16th over with the introduction of the languid Harmer who bowled the increasingly confident Beardley. Rajabali, bowling into the wind, immediately took care of his great friend Walker (3) to the first ball he delivered through a quite outrageous dismissal. Operating with the cat-like Khandelwal at silly point, Rajabali induced a drive, the ball balloned off the foot of a sprawling Monty and into the hands of a grateful wicketkeeper.
As is his wont, Rajabali (4-43) duly ripped through the middle order of an opposition batting order backed up by good catching from Cowley & Colquhoun.
As Harmer's spell came to a premature end (in the bowlers eyes), so began a good spell from Emsley (2-39) who, with the help of Ash (2-11), cleared up the tail with a mixture of filth and beauty.
A score of 174 was again 40 runs to many as England, (13) and Nockles (23) in particular, added some useful lower order runs
So, to the weekly injury update;
Ash - lower leg still causing problems not helped by bowling filth late on
Weston - lower legs still aching not helped by the dank conditions that enhance arthritis
Cowley - missed a catch in an awe-inspiring pre-match warm up (not the only guilty party) injuring a hand
Harmer - has lost the ability to shave
Emsley - trying to emulate Sidebottom, The Human Bruise decided to take a caught and bowled on the nipple
Colquhoun - removal of a beach-scab taking a mis-judged catch off the skipper led to a wonderful impersonation of Basil Fawlty and the Ministry of Silly Walks.

We began a reply, with Ketteringham rushing the score to 40 off 14 overs with some blistering leg side shots, but the rain beat us.
The abandonment of everyone else means a second place finish is still very much within our reach so still all to play for with five games to go
